Kurobuta can be traced back to the famous heritage breed Berkshire

brought to Japan by British diplomats in the 19th century and is now famously hailed as the Wagyu of pork. In Japan, the Kurobuta pig is raised in or around Kagoshima prefecture and under low-stress environment to keep the pigs calm and pH regulated.

The result of the free range and strict dietary pigs makes it prized for a clean taste unlike other fresh pork meat that have a distinct flavor, as true Kagoshima Kurobuta feeds on sweet potatoes by making the fat less fatty. The Kurobuta meat is pink-hued and has a good marbling, not to forget the juicy and tender meat.
